Communication – when to refer to speech and language therapy

Outline

This training course is aimed at practitioners working in Early Years educational settings. It is highly advisable that you also attend the Foundation Training which is run by the CLCH NHS Early Years Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service.

Description

This 3 hour course will provide early years practitioners with practical advice and guidance on when and how to refer to the Early Years SLT service children who need further support with their Speech, Language and Communication Needs

Outcomes

By the end of the training you will:
  • Have revised your knowledge of speech, language and communication developmental norms for children from birth- 5 years
  • Know when and how to make a referral to the Early Years SLT service
  • Have the opportunity to discuss conversations that you find challenging with parents when advising a referral to Early Years Speech and Language Therapy Services
